State Sen. Joe Pittman opened a new district office Thursday in New Kensington.

The office is in Suite 102 at the Burrell Business Center, 2400 Leechburg Road.

The new office is a result of redistricting, which saw New Kensington changed from the state Senate’s 45th District, represented by Democrat Jim Brewster, to the 41st District and represented by Pittman, a Republican.

Brewster had not opposed the redistricting.

Brewster had an office in New Kensington City Hall, which was closed. His new 45th District covers part of Allegheny County, stretching from Plum south to Forward Township and extending west to Castle Shannon.

Pittman’s 41st District covers all of Armstrong and Indiana counties and parts of Westmoreland and Jefferson counties.

In Westmoreland, in addition to New Kensington, the 41st District includes the Alle-Kiski Valley municipalities of Allegheny Township, Arnold, Bell Township, East Vandergrift, Leechburg, Lower Burrell, Oklahoma Borough, Washington Township, West Leechburg and Upper Burrell.

Pittman’s district lost the Butler County municipalities he had represented, as well as Murrysville. His Murrysville office closed in November.

Pittman also has offices at 618 Philadelphia St. in Indiana and 109 S. Jefferson St. in Kittanning.

The offices are open 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.

Services available to constituents at the offices include status reports on legislation, help dealing with state government and agencies, copies of state House and Senate bills and state laws, processing PennDOT paperwork, getting copies of birth and death certificates, child abuse clearance and criminal history applications, state tax forms, senior citizen benefits, tax and rent rebate forms, voting information and higher education student aid.

The New Kensington office can be reached at 724-216-6165.

Pittman was elected to the Senate in a May 2019 special election to complete the unexpired term of Sen. Don White, who retired. He was reelected to a full four-year term in November 2020 that will expire in 2024.
