Tarentum man facing sex assault charges arrested in another rape case
A Tarentum man awaiting trial on 2023 charges that he sexually assaulted a 6-year-old girl has been charged in an unrelated rape case.
Allegheny County Police on Wednesday said Brian Lee Jefferies, 27, of Roup Street repeatedly raped and sexually assaulted a girl when she was between 10 and 13 years old, according to a criminal complaint.
While Jefferies was assaulting the girl, he would tell her, “Don’t tell anyone,” the complaint said.
The incidents happened at Jefferies’ home and in Creighton about 10 years ago, the complaint said. The girl, now an adult, spoke with police after Jefferies had been arrested in the 2023 case.
“Detectives do not have information to suggest there are any additional victims,” Allegheny County Police spokesman Jim Madalinsky told TribLive.
County police arrested Jefferies on Feb. 26 on 12 charges, including rape, rape of a child, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, indecent assault on a person less than 13 years old and indecent exposure, court records show.
He had a preliminary hearing Wednesday and was released the same day from Allegheny County Jail after posting monetary bond. His next court date is April 25 in Common Pleas Court.
The Allegheny County Public Defender’s Office, which is representing Jefferies, does not comment on pending cases.
TribLive does not identify victims of alleged sexual abuse.
Jefferies was arrested on nine criminal charges in a separate sex assault case in April 2023.
Jefferies, who has appeared in sex offense court, is set to have a status hearing on the 2023 charges April 3 in front of Common Pleas Judge Jill E. Rangos, court records show. His jury trial in that matter is set to begin July 10.
Allegheny County Police said the child in the 2023 case told authorities that Jefferies sexually assaulted her multiple times between January and April 2023, a complaint said.
The child told investigators that Jefferies also recently made a video of them using his cellphone and “was laughing about it,” the complaint said.
Correction: Jefferies is charged with sexual assault in the 2023 case. A previous version of the article incorrectly stated the charges.
