Police searching for five juveniles Tuesday night in Tarentum apprehended two of them and seized four guns, all of them believed to be stolen, according to borough police.

One of the two boys arrested was taken to Allegheny County Jail, where he was being held on a warrant out of McKeesport on unspecified adult charges, said Tarentum police Lt. Mark Glogowski.

Glogowski, who did not identify that boy, said Wednesday that Tarentum police were awaiting approval from the Allegheny County District Attorney’s Office to file additional charges against the boy.

Of the four guns recovered, one was confirmed to have been stolen and the others are believed to have been stolen, Glogowski said.

The other boy apprehended Tuesday night was released to his parents and is not facing charges, Glogowski said.

Glogowski would not release information on what brought police to the Philip Burtner Apartments on Tarentum’s East Fifth Avenue around 9 p.m. Burtner Apartments is operated by the Allegheny County Housing Authority.

Authority police Chief Mike Vogel said police were responding to a medical call at the apartments when officers saw the boy wanted on the warrant. He could not provide any further information.

Glogowski said police quickly apprehended the two boys after going to Burtner Apartments but continued searching for the other three until about 3 a.m. The other three were not found.

Glogowski said they are not suspected of having committed any crimes.
