Free spring muster and wildflower walk planned in Apollo
Roaring Run Watershed Association will sponsor a free Spring Muster and Civil War cannon demonstration from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday and Sunday at the Roaring Run Trail trailhead at the end of Canal Street in Apollo.
The 4th Light Artillery reenactors will be on hand and perform a demonstration of up to eight cannons firing across the Kiski River.
From noon to 3 p.m. Saturday there will be an Earth Day wildflower walk led by Loree Speedy from the Botanical Society of Western Pennsylvania. No reservations are required.
Scholarships available to local students
Allegheny-Kiski Health Foundation has several scholarship programs available for area students.
Interested students should visit akhealth.org/scholarships. No other form will be accepted. Application deadline is May 15. For details, call the foundation at 724-294-3157.
Cash raffle to fund annual Independence Day fireworks
Summit Hose Company in Tarentum is conducting a cash raffle to fund the annual Community Fireworks Display planned July 3 at Dreshar Stadium.
Tickets are $5. Winning numbers will be the 7 p.m. Pa. Pick 3 numbers on 10 weekend dates in July. For tickets, send cash or a check made out to Summit Hose with a self-addressed, stamped envelope to 321 W. Seventh Ave., Tarentum PA 15084.
