East Deer Summer Celebration planned Saturday
The sixth annual East Deer Summer Celebration will be from noon to 8 p.m. in East Deer Memorial Park, 700 Front St., in the Creighton section of the township.
Music from noon to 1:30 p.m. will be by DJ Ann, 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. by Rick & Tony and 6 to 8 p.m. by the band Shot O’ Soul. There will be vendors, food, a cornhole tournament, free pony rides, games, a foam party and silent auction.
Drive-thru food distribution set Tuesday at Pittsburgh Mills
Allegheny Valley Association of Churches and the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank will host a drive-thru food distribution for anyone in need from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday in parking lot of the former JC Penney store at the Galleria at Pittsburgh Mills, Frazer.
Reservations are not required. Do not arrive before 4 p.m. Guests should remain in their vehicles and open their door or trunk and will be served on a first come, first served basis.

Sept. 21: The auxiliaries of Pioneer Hose and Hilltop Hose companies will host a super bingo at Pioneer Hose Company, 124 Morgan St. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., early birds start at 12:45 p.m. and regular bingo begins at 1 p.m. Cost: $35, in advance, will be $40 at the door; includes a light lunch and bingo packet. Tuesday: Freeport Renaissance Association will host Freeport Days from 5 to 8 p.m. in the downtown section of the borough. There will be live music, food trucks and vendors and businesses will be open. This month’s theme will be beach vacation. Wear your flip-flops and a Hawaiian shirt.
Harrison
Monday through Friday: The Natrona Playground Summer Camp for children serves a free lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. weekdays at the playground, 10 River Ave. Free events from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. are: Tuesday, exploring creativity with Ms. Allison; Wednesday, art experiments with Ms. Maritza; and Thursday, a pizza party to celebrate the program’s last session.
Tuesday: Allegheny-Kiski Health Foundation will offer a free class, “Pet First Aid for Animal Lovers,” from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the foundation office, 1 Acee Drive. Veterinarian Dr. Betsy Kennon will discuss common ailments, CPR for dogs and cats, treating and bandaging wounds to legs and paws, treating hot spots and bee stings and what to do if a pet swallows something bad. Tuesday: The diaper pantry at Spring Church Lutheran Church, 3623 Lutheran Church Road, will distribute diapers from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the church. Distributions will be the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month. Recipients must register in advance. Tuesdays: The Parkinson Foundation of Western Pennsylvania hosts a Parkinson’s wellness class from 1:15 to 2 p.m. at Valley Points Family YMCA, 800 Constitution Blvd. The program is a mix of exercises designed to help someone manage their Parkinson’s Disease more effectively and includes aerobic and resistance training, stretching, balance, facial and voice exercises.
