Christmas concerts planned by Kiski Valley Community Band

The Kiski Valley Community Band will perform several benefit concerts in the Alle-Kiski Valley this Christmas season.

The schedule and beneficiaries include:

• 7 p.m., Dec. 7, Christ Lutheran Church, 5530 Old Logans Ferry Road, Murrysville; Kiski Valley Food Bank and Trinity Lutheran Church, Northside, Pittsburgh.

• 7 p.m., Dec. 10, Marconi Club, 135 River Ave., Leechburg; Lower Kiski Ambulance Service.

• 3 p.m., Dec. 14, First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 214 N. Pennsylvania Ave, Apollo; Apollo Historical Society restoration of the Gen. Jackson mansion.

• 2 p.m., Dec. 15, Casino Theatre, 145 Lincoln Ave., Vandergrift. Donations will benefit the theater.

• 3 p.m., Dec. 22, St. Paul Lutheran Church, 409 Sarver Road., Buffalo Township; World Vision.

Selections will include holiday favorites, such as “Sleigh Ride” and “A Christmas Festival” by Leroy Anderson and a sing-along.


Local students to participate in Rotary Choral Festival

Highlands Area Rotary Club’s 36th annual Choral Festival will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday in Highlands High School Auditorium, Natrona Heights, Harrison.

In addition to Highlands, participating schools are Springdale, Deer Lakes, Freeport Area and Burrell. Tickets are $5 and will be sold at the door.

Cash raffle to benefit Eureka Rescue-EMS

Tickets are on sale for a Christmas cash raffle to benefit Eureka Fire Rescue and EMS.

The winning number will be the 7 p.m. Dec. 18 Pennsylvania Lottery Daily Pick 3 number. Tickets cost $20 and include two numbers. For tickets, call 724-224-3473 or see any member.

East Vandergrift 

Friday : Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish is selling tickets for a St. Nicholas Day lottery raffle. Winning numbers will be the first drawn Pennsylvania Daily Pick 3 numbers at 1:30 and 7 p.m. on St. Nicholas Day, Dec. 6. Winners will each receive $1,000 and a $100 gift certificate to Donghia Lumber Company in Vandergrift. Cost: $10, includes two numbers. Harrison

New Kensington 

Tuesdays: A wellness class for those with Parkinson’s Disease is offered from 1:15 to 2 p.m. at Valley Points Family YMCA, 800 Constitution Blvd. Sponsored by the Parkinson’s Foundation of Western Pennsylvania, the program is a mix of exercises designed to help manage Parkinson’s Disease and includes aerobic and resistance training, stretching, balance, facial and voice exercises. Dec. 10: The Myrrh Bearing Women of St. George Orthodox Church are accepting orders for a Christmas sweets sale.
