Oakmont Elks to host free Christmas dinner

A free community holiday dinner will be served from 1 to 4 p.m. on Christmas Day at the Oakmont Elks lodge, 106 Washington Ave.

No one should be alone on Christmas. Bring a friend or neighbor. Reservations are requested.

NK Fundraiser to mark winter solstice

Tortured Souls Brewing, New Kensington, will host a fundraiser to benefit Knead Community Café from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday at the brewery, 715 Craigdell Road.

The Soltice of Shadows Beer Fest will feature craft beers from local and regional breweries and entertainment. Must be 21 to attend.

Santa to visit West Leechburg

West Leechburg Volunteer Fire Department will escort Santa through the borough beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday.

Brackenridge  

Today: Bingo will be at 7:15 p.m. at the American Legion, 845 First Ave. Details: 724-994-6030.

Friday: Members of the American Legion will go caroling in the borough. The group will meet at 5 p.m. at the post, stop at Dalton’s Edge between 6 an 6:30 p.m. and continue through the lower half of town.

Gilpin 

Today: Gilpin Volunteer Fire Department will host bingo at 7 p.m. at the firehall, 113 Firehall Road.

Harrison  

Friday: Natrona Heights Veterans of Foreign Wars will have bingo at 7 p.m. at the post, 894 Veterans Lane. Doors open at 6 p.m., and there will be specials, a 50-50 raffle and final game jackpot.

Dec. 31: The Veterans of Foreign Wars will host a New Years Eve celebration from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. at the post, 894 Veterans Lane. Music will be by the Cool Change Band. Public welcome. Cost: $25, includes two drinks and food. Cash bar. Tickets: 724-904-7649.

Jefferson Township

Today: Bingo will be at 6:30 p.m. at the American Legion, 754 N. Pike Road. Doors open at 5 p.m. The kitchen will be open. Proceeds benefit post and auxiliary projects.

Leechburg

Today: The free genealogy group at Leechburg Area Museum and Historical Society will meet from 10 a.m. to noon at the museum, 118 First St. The group will now meet on the second and third Thursdays of each month. Basic computer skills required. Details: Judy, wrighton154@yahoo.com.

Lower Burrell

New Kensington

Today and Saturday: The Community Clothes Closet, 1129 Kenneth Ave., will be open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Items available include clothing for all members of the family, shoes, linens, purses and handbags. Household items, dishes, appliances and books will no longer be accepted. Donations welcome during business hours only. Do not leave donations at the door.

Oakmont

Parks Township 

Today: Parks Township Sportsman Club Association will meet at 7:30 p.m. at the club, 1111 Shipman Road. New members welcome.

Friday: Parks Township Volunteer Fire Department will host bingo at 7 p.m. in the firehall, 1119 Dalmation Drive. Doors open at 5 p.m.

Springdale 

Today: Lower Valley Community Food Bank will distribute food from 1 to 3 p.m. from the rear entrance of the Springdale borough building, 325 School St. Do not arrive before 12:45 p.m. Anyone in need of food who lives in Springdale, Springdale Township, Cheswick, Harmar and the sections of Indiana Township and West Deer with a zip code of 15024 is welcome. New recipients can register today.

Tarentum

Saturday: Bethel AME Church will host a $1 spaghetti dinner from noon to 3 p.m. at the church, 250 Western Ave. Assorted breads and soups will be sold. Free clothing and covid and flu shots will be available. Please call 724-224-2417 after 10 a.m. for spaghetti orders of six or more.

Saturday: The Clothing Closet at Central Presbyterian Church, 305 Allegheny St., will be open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The monthly dollar breakfast will be from 8 a.m. to noon. Menu: pancakes, sausage, coffee and juice. Details: 724-224-9220.

Dec. 31: Tarentum Elks will host a New Year’s Eve party at the lodge, 219 E. Sixth Ave. Doors open at 7 p.m. The Americana Band will be featured and there will be a food buffet, open bar and champagne toast at midnight. Advance tickets required; no tickets will be sold at the door. Cost: $30. Public welcome. Tickets: stop in at the lodge and see the bar technician.

Upper Burrell

Washington Township

Winfield
