MyHeritage research database available at Harrison library

The local history department at Community Library of Allegheny Valley, 1522 Broadview Blvd., Harrison, offers the use of the MyHeritage Research Database that includes billions of historical documents for nearly 50 countries, historical photographs, public records, indexes and more.

Free advice available for those with financial troubles

Allegheny Valley Association of Churches has free support services available for anyone who is having trouble making ends meet, is unemployed or needs help with budgeting and talking to bill collectors.

Dec. 31: Leechburg Area Community Association will sponsor a New Year’s Eve party from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. in the Marconi Club Mirror Room, 135 River Ave. Cost: $20, includes champagne toast at midnight and food. Dec. 31: Tarentum Elks will host a New Year’s Eve party at the lodge, 219 E. Sixth Ave. Doors open at 7 p.m. The Americana Band will be featured and there will be a food buffet, open bar and champagne toast at midnight. Advance tickets required; no tickets will be sold at the door. Cost: $30. Public welcome. Tickets: stop in at the lodge and see the bar technician.
