Grief workshop offered by Good Samaritan Hospice

Good Samaritan Hospice, a mission of Concordia Lutheran Ministries, will sponsor a free grief workshop “Facing the Firsts” for anyone who has lost a loved one from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Jan. 18 at the Middlesex Township office, 116 Browns Hill Road, suite 111.

All ages are welcome and lunch will be served. Children and teens will attend breakout sessions with age-appropriate activities and must be accompanied by an adult.

Jan. 8: St. James and Our Lady, Queen of Peace parishes will sponsor a bus trip to Rivers Casino, Pittsburgh. The bus will leave at 9 a.m. from the St. James Church parking lot and stay at the casino for five hours. Cost: $30, includes $20 free play. State-issued photo ID required to receive free play. Saturday: Arnold United Methodist Church, 1801 Leishman Ave., will host an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast from 8 a.m. to noon at the church. Gilpin

Harrison

Jan. 7: Community Library of Allegheny Valley will host a New Year’s Resolution Bingo for students in fifth to 12th grade from 4 to 5 p.m. at the library, 1522 Broadview Blvd. Participants will make bingo cards with new year’s resolutions on them and there will be an opportunity to give input on planning new programs for teens in the new year. Jan. 11: Community Library of Allegheny Valley will offer a craft workshop to make beaded snowflakes from 1 to 2:30 p.m. at the library, 1522 Broadview Blvd. Children in fourth to 12th grade welcome. Reservation required by Jan. 10. Reservations: alleghenyvalleylibrary.org.

Jefferson Township 

Today: Bingo will be at 6:30 p.m. at the American Legion, 754 N. Pike Road. Doors open at 5 p.m. The kitchen will be open. Proceeds benefit post and auxiliary projects.

New Kensington 

Today and Saturday: The Community Clothes Closet, 1129 Kenneth Ave., will be open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Items available include clothing for all members of the family, shoes, linens, purses and handbags. Household items, dishes, appliances and books will no longer be accepted. Donations welcome during business hours only. Do not leave donations at the door.

Saxonburg

Saturday: South Butler Community Library will sponsor a family trivia event and sing-along with Disney favorites at 10:30 a.m. at the library, 240 W. Main St. There will be Disney door prizes. Springdale

Jan. 9: Springdale Free Public Library will have a Family Fun Night at 6 p.m. at the library, 331 School St. Law Enforcement Appreciation Day will be celebrated. There will be a craft and a visit with a local police officer. Reservations required. Reservations: 724-274-9729.

Tarentum

Jan. 11: The Masons are selling tickets for a 50-50 raffle to benefit the lodge scholarship program. The winning number will be drawn at the Jan. 11 pancake breakfast at the lodge, 307 Lock St., second floor. Cost: $2; six for $10. West Deer
