Sizzling Summer Night event set Saturday
The New Kensington Sizzling Summer Night celebration will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Saturday on Fifth Avenue in downtown.
There will be entertainment, art vendors, food and drinks and stores will be open.
New Kensington Arts Center will host a movie night of Disney movie shorts during the event at the center, 950 Fifth Ave. Admission is $5; and $1 for children. Popcorn will be available for a donation.
Students welcome to explore careers in healthcare
Allegheny Valley Hospital will sponsor a free one-day career day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 5 at the hospital for high school students 16 and older.
Students will have the opportunity to explore careers in healthcare by interacting with professionals in nursing, occupational therapy, physical therapy, laboratory sciences and biomedical engineering and participating in hands-on activities.

Boaters bash planned Saturday in New Kensington
Allegheny River Development Corporation will host the Rockin’ For Lockin’ Boaters Bash fundraiser from 1 to 10 p.m. Saturday at Lighthouse Marina, 799 Industrial Blvd., New Kensington.
There will be bands, food trucks, a silent auction and raffles. Bands scheduled include Strung Over, Steel City Ramblers, 2KD and Glitz.

Free community picnic planned Saturday
Fun and Freedom will host a free community Picnic in the Park from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday in Natrona Park and Playground, River Avenue, Harrison.

Monday through Friday: The Natrona Playground Summer Camp for children serves a free lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. weekdays at the playground, 10 River Ave. Free classes from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. are: Tuesday, painting fun with Mr. Kevin; Wednesday, crafts project with Community Library of Allegheny Valley; and Thursday, sculptures with Food Edible Art.
Today: Burtner House Restoration Society will meet at 6:30 p.m. at the township municipal building, 1 Municipal Drive. Updates and improvements will be discussed. New members welcome.
Saturday: The Diaper Pantry at Christ Our Hope Anglican Church will distribute diapers from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church, 926 Painter Ave., and at Sheldon Park, both in Natrona Heights. Recipients must drive up and remain in their vehicles. First-time recipients must provide their own identification, the child’s birth certificate and a current WIC or SNAP card.

Saturday: The trash to treasure sale planned at The River 15068 is canceled due to unplanned electrical work in the churchyard. All other sales this summer are also canceled.
New Kensington
