Bike run planned Aug. 26 by Ashley’s Angels

Ashley’s Angels will sponsor a motorcycle run and lunch Aug. 26 at the New Kensington Eagles, 2134 Freeport Road.

Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and kickstands up will be at 10:30 a.m. Oakmont Bakery doughnuts and coffee will be served for breakfast.

Cost is $25 per rider; $20 per passenger; and includes lunch. Tickets for the 1:30 p.m. lunch only are $20. There will be entertainment, a basket auction, cash bar and a 50/50 raffle.

Free lunches available at Brackenridge Salvation Army

The Allegheny Valley Salvation Army and Community Center will distribute free grab-and-go lunches from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in parking lot at the center, 917 Brackenridge Ave.

Free grocery items from Walmart and Aldi will be available. Everyone is welcome.


Service to honor Korean War veterans

Prospect Cemetery and the Allegheny-Kiski Valley Heritage Museum will sponsor an event to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the end of the Korean War at 7 p.m. Thursday at the cemetery in Brackenridge.

A roll call of the names of veterans of the Korean War who are buried in the cemetery will be read and there will be a 21-gun salute.

Light refreshments will be served afterward at the Heritage Museum, 224 E. Seventh Ave., Tarentum.

Brackenridge

Wednesday: Al-Anon will meet at 8 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 847 10th Ave. The group offers help and hope for families and friends of alcoholics.

Wednesday: A story time with lunch and a craft will be from 11 a.m. to noon in Brackenridge Park, First Avenue. Sponsored by Trinity United Methodist Church.

Thursday: Bingo will begin at 7:15 p.m. at the American Legion, 845 First Ave.

Buffalo Township

Today: Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank will host a drive-through food distribution for anyone in need from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Lernerville Speedway, 313 N. Pike Road. No reservations required. Guests should remain in their vehicles and open their door or trunk and will be served on a first come, first served basis.

Freeport

Wednesday: The Thrift Store Clothing Ministry at Freeport United Methodist Church, 211 Fourth St., will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. All items are free, but donations will be accepted. Items available include clothing of all sizes, bedding and window items. Donations of clothing, shoes and boots welcome; must be laundered and free from smoke and pet hair. Wheelchair accessible. Gilpin

Thursday: Gilpin Volunteer Fire Department will host bingo at 7:15 p.m. at the firehall, 113 Firehall Road.

Harrison

Today: The free summer children’s playground program sponsored by Natrona Comes Together Association will present a Pittsburgh Children’s Museum program about robots at 12:30 p.m. at the park pavilion, 10 River Ave.

Wednesday: The Becky’s Closet community clothing store at Faith Lutheran Church, 1500 Broadview Blvd., will have a Christmas in July sale from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church. Clothing and Christmas decorations will be available at very low cost. Donations welcome during this time.

Wednesday: Allegheny Valley Association of Churches Food Bank will be open from 1:30 to 5 p.m. at 1913 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights. Wednesday: The Agape Thrift Shop at Grace United Methodist Church, 1333 Freeport Road, will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Clean summer clothing in all sizes is needed. No housewares or bedding please due to lack of space. Bring donations on Wednesday or leave them on the front porch. Do not place donations in the blue bins behind the church.

Jefferson

Thursday: Bingo will be at 6:30 p.m. at the American Legion, 754 N. Pike Road. Doors open at 5 p.m. The kitchen will be open. Proceeds benefit post and auxiliary projects.
