Allegheny Township to celebrate the season

The Allegheny Township Light the Season celebration will be from 5:45 to 8 p.m. Friday at the community building, 136 Community Building Road.

There will be free hot dogs, popcorn, cookies and hot chocolate, music, crafts, games and the lighting of the Christmas tree. Santa Claus will be on hand from 6 to 7:30 p.m.


‘Frozen’ to be presented by MQA students

The drama department at Mary Queen of Apostles School will present “Frozen” at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday in the Valley High School auditorium, 703 Stevenson Blvd., New Kensington.

Tickets are $12 and are general admission. The facility is wheelchair accessible. For tickets visit tinyurl.com/yeyrd9zt or at the door. Tickets at the door are cash only.


Santa needs help: You can ‘adopt’ a senior for Christmas

Concordia Lutheran Ministries has again opened its Adopt-A-Resident Program to the community.

Individuals, businesses or congregations may call the facility of their choice to “adopt” a resident and give him or her Christmas gifts. Gift suggestions include a sweatshirt, sweatpants, door wreath, stamps and stationery, digital clocks with large numbers, hair salon gift certificates and slippers and slipper socks.

Participating local locations and contacts are:

Saturday: St. Vladimir Ukrainian Catholic Church will have a pop-up pierogi sale from 9 to 10:30 a.m. at the church social hall, 1610 Kenneth Ave. Frozen and a limited amount of fresh pierogi will be available. Varieties: potato & cheese and sauerkraut, $14 per dozen. No orders will be accepted. Sales will be first come, first served.

Nov. 28: The Kiski Valley Turkey Trot 5K Race and 1 Mile Fun Run to benefit Kiski Area Youth Network will be Thanksgiving, Nov. 28 at Kunkle Park, 985 Pine Run Church Road.
