Fund aids animals with health problems

The Fur-ever Mine Fund at Animal Protectors of Allegheny Valley covers the cost of medical care for cats and dogs that are admitted to the shelter.

Some animals arrive in good health, but many others have medical problems that need to be addressed before they can be adopted.

NK-Arnold SD looking for distinguished alumni

The New Kensington-Arnold School District is seeking nominations for its 2025 Distinguished Alumni Award.

Consideration is given to candidates who have made outstanding contributions in areas such as athletics, business, education, journalism, law, manufacturing, medicine, performing arts, public service, science and the trades. Nominees must be graduates of Valley High School, New Kensington High School or Parnassus High School who have achieved an exceptional level of success within their field or profession and had a positive impact on the broader community after leaving high school. They need to be willing to accept the honor and agree to have their name, picture and a brief description of their accomplishments made public. Nominees may be recognized posthumously.

Today: Allegheny Valley Association of Churches Food Bank will be open from 1:30 to 5 p.m. at 1913 Freeport Road, Natrona Heights. Food bank participants can receive food allotments twice per month.
