Holiday art exhibit set at Peoples Library

Allegheny Valley League of Artists will have its holiday exhibit through the end of the year at the Lower Burrell location of Peoples Library, 3052 Wachter St.

Hours are 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays. Christmas purchases will benefit the library.

Arnold

Friday: St. Vladimir Church, 1610 Kenneth Ave., is accepting orders for its pierogi sale. Varieties: potato or sauerkraut, $14 per dozen. Pickup: 12:30 to 4 p.m. Fridays in the church social hall. Cottage cheese pierogi will be sold Nov. 22 and Dec. 13. Cost: $16 per dozen. Orders: 724-339-9257, 8 to 10 a.m. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.

Saturday: The American Legion will meet at 2 p.m. at the Arnold Public Safety Building, 601 Drey St. The group meets the second Saturday of each month.

Avonmore

Saturday: A bingo to benefit the Avonmore Senior Center will begin at 1 p.m. at the center, 458 Railroad Ave. Doors open at 11 a.m. Packets must be picked by 12:30 p.m. and early birds will begin at 12:45 p.m. There will be a 50-50 raffle, 14 regular games, five specials and a $300 last jackpot game. Brackenridge  

Today: Bingo will be at 7:15 p.m. at the American Legion, 845 First Ave. Details: 724-994-6030.

Today: The Allegheny Valley Salvation Army and Community Center will distribute free grab-and-go lunches from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the center parking lot, 917 Brackenridge Ave. Free grocery items from Walmart and Aldi will be available. Everyone is welcome.

Saturday: The American Legion will feature the band Satin Whip from 7 to 9 p.m. Cover charge: $5. Please use the front door. Public welcome.

Sunday : Highlands High School Band Boosters will host a bingo fundraiser at 1 p.m. at the American Legion, 845 First Ave. Doors open at noon. Cost: $30 in advance; $35 at the door, includes a light lunch. There will be a silent auction and 50-50. Tickets: bingo4hvbb@gmail.com.

East Vandergrift

Dec. 6: Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish is selling tickets for a St. Nicholas Day lottery raffle. Winners will each receive $1,000 and a $100 gift certificate to Donghia Lumber Company in Vandergrift. Cost: $10, includes two numbers. Nov. 22: Freeport Kiwanis will sponsor a bingo fundraiser at 6 p.m. at Laube Hall, 115 Community Park Road. Harrison

Saturday: The Diaper Pantry at Christ Our Hope Anglican Church will distribute diapers from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the church, 926 Painter Ave., and at Sheldon Park, both in Natrona Heights. Recipients must drive up and remain in their vehicles. First-time recipients must provide their own identification, the child’s birth certificate and a current WIC or SNAP card.

Nov. 13: Highmark will offer free educational seminars about Medicare at 2 p.m. in the Charles W. Young Conference Center at Allegheny Valley Hospital, 1301 Carlisle St., Natrona Heights. Attend either session. Reservations requested, but not required. Reservations: 724-226-7339.

Jefferson Township

Today: Bingo will be at 6:30 p.m. at the American Legion, 754 N. Pike Road. Doors open at 5 p.m. The kitchen will be open. Proceeds benefit post and auxiliary projects.

Saturday: A craft show will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Knoch High School, Dinnerbell Road. There will be over 200 vendors, food trucks, a basket raffle and 50-50. Admission: $4; children 12 and younger and veterans, free. Proceeds will benefit the girls basketball program.

Leechburg  

Saturday: Leechburg Rotary will host an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Cross Roads Community Presbyterian Church, 271 Main St. Menu: pancakes, sausage, orange juice and coffee. Cost: $8; 9 and younger, $6; 2 and younger, free. Dine in or takeout. There will be a raffle for a $500 gift certificate from Sprankle’s Neighborhood Market. Saturday: The Veterans of Foreign Wars post, Wildlife Lodge Road, will feature the band Shot O’Soul from 8 to 11 p.m. Members and three guests welcome.

New Kensington

New recipients can register Thursday.

Through Nov. 30: Springdale Free Public Library is collecting non-perishable food during November for donation to Lower Valley Food Bank. Items will be donated Dec. 3 in honor of Giving Tuesday. Details: 724-274-9729.

Washington Township

Nov. 28: The Kiski Valley Turkey Trot 5K Race and 1 Mile Fun Run to benefit Kiski Area Youth Network will be Thanksgiving, Nov. 28 at Kunkle Park, 985 Pine Run Church Road. West Deer

Nov. 23: The deacons of East Union Church, in cooperation with the West Deer Food Bank, will distribute Thanksgiving baskets to local families in need.
