Relaxing afternoon planned for caregivers
Pennsylvania Link to Aging and Disability Resources and Wesley Family Services will offer a free afternoon of education and relaxation for caregivers from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Nov. 18 at Vandergrift Public Library, 128C Washington Ave., Vandergrift.
Anyone who cares for a child with disabilities, an elderly parent or a spouse or works as a caregiver is welcome. There will be a craft, information about caring for yourself and the opportunity to connect with others who share your journey.

Toys for Children campaign underway in West Deer
West Deer Police Department is sponsoring its 28th annual Toys for Children drive to benefit low-income families with children age infant to 12 who are enrolled in the Deer Lakes School District.
Cub Scout Pack 965 will drop off bags Saturday at residences in the school district. Bags can be filled with new, unwrapped toys. Scouts will return Nov. 16 to pick up donations. New toys can also be dropped off from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Dec. 4 at the police department and municipal building lobbies, 109 East Union Road.
Checks made out to West Deer Police Special Programs, can be sent to 109 East Union Road, Cheswick PA 15024. Money will be used to purchase additional toys, winter clothing and wrapping paper supplies. Remaining funds will be used to purchase items for families to have a Christmas dinner.

Saturday: A bingo to benefit the Avonmore Senior Center will begin at 1 p.m. at the center, 458 Railroad Ave. Doors open at 11 a.m. Packets must be picked by 12:30 p.m. and early birds will begin at 12:45 p.m. There will be a 50-50 raffle, 14 regular games, five specials and a $300 last jackpot game. Recipients must drive up and remain in their vehicles. First-time recipients must provide their own identification, the child’s birth certificate and a current WIC or SNAP card.
