Green Heiress occupies the spot at 209 Commercial Avenue today.

As mom and pop stores began to populate across the country in the early 1900s, Clover Farms made its name.

By 1932, there were more than 150 Clover Farms stores in the Greater Pittsburgh area — with one situated along Commercial Avenue in Aspinwall.

Samuel DiGregory and his daughter, Pauline, are shown in front of their store at 209 Commercial Ave.

Founded in 1885 as an Ohio-based farm store, Clover Farms stores were outfitted with green and gold signs as one of the first examples of chain retail branding.

Residents could shop for groceries, coffee and farm-fresh produce.

In the 1970s, the space had transitioned to Joyce’s Beer Distributor.

Today, Green Heiress Holistic Health Center has made its home there.

According to a Facebook post, Green Heiress is a space to rejuvenate the mind, body and spirit. People can practice wellness through yoga and massage.

Beginning Jan. 16, an uninstructed workshop will offer space to work on personal projects in the company of fellow artists. Green Heiress is open daily.
