Threats made against Kiski Area Intermediate School were determined to be not credible, according to district officials.

A letter was sent to district families Wednesday informing them that the district was aware and investigating a threat allegedly made by a student and directed at the Intermediate School.

The investigation is ongoing, according to the letter written by Kiski Area’s Director of School Safety, Chad Roland.

The letter made no mention of classes or any extracurricular activities being canceled.

“Please be assured that we are treating this situation with the utmost seriousness,” the letter said. “We are working closely with our School Resource Officers, the families involved, student witnesses, and the Safe2Say team as we follow our established threat assessment procedures to fully investigate and address all concerns.”

Kiski Area said its schools are safe, and there is no known threat to students or staff.

“Out of an abundance of caution, our administrative team continues to implement all safety protocols,” the letter said. “We are confident that it is safe for students to attend schools in the day ahead.”
