Traffic restrictions in place ahead of visitation for Corey Comperatore
Road restrictions have begun ahead of public visitation for Corey Comperatore, the Buffalo Township man fatally shot at a campaign rally for former President Donald Trump on Saturday.
The visitation is set for 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Laube Hall in Freeport.
Southern Armstrong Regional Police Department announced shortly after 9:30 a.m. that the left lane of High Street/Freeport Road is being used to enter Freeport Community Park, where Laube Hall is located, and the right lane is reserved for through traffic.
Washington Street can only be accessed from Fifth Street. Motorists are not able to turn off Washington Street onto Community Park Road.
There will be a heavy police presence throughout Freeport, including near Laube Hall, Southern Armstrong noted in a social media post.
A private service will be held Friday, with crowds expected to line the funeral procession route. That will come with its own set of traffic restrictions, according to police.
After a service at Cabot United Methodist Church, the procession will move onto Winfield Road, then to Bear Creek Road, then to Sarver Road, then to Route 356 and into Freeport via Second Street before ending on High Street.
Trump is not expected to attend services, despite initial reports that he may be in the area Friday.
