Periodic, single-lane closures on Baileys Run Road in Frazer, East Deer and West Deer are scheduled to start at 6 a.m. April 10, the Allegheny County Department of Public Works announced Tuesday.

Traffic will be restricted weekdays between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. for work including paving, base repairs, drainage improvements, shoulder work and guardrail replacement. The restrictions are expected to end by November.

Drivers can expect short stoppages at work zones. Flaggers will control traffic.

As part of the same project, Baileys Run Road will be fully closed later this year for the construction of two retaining walls. The start date for the closure has yet to be determined, the department said.

Residents living within the closure area will have access to their homes at all times. Traffic will be detoured using Freeport, Crawford Run, Butler Logan and Russellton Airport roads.

The road improvement work will be done by Mele & Mele & Sons, of Rankin, as part of the $7.6 million 2023 capital roads project.

The retaining wall work will be done by A. Merante Contracting, of West Mifflin, as part of a separate contract, and the cost of that work has not been finalized, the department said.
