A Pittsburgh man was accused of being a drug dealer after a state trooper pulled him over for driving 100 mph on Route 28 in Harmar and found cocaine and marijuana in the vehicle, according to authorities.

Shontal Anthony Austin, 47, of the 6700 block of Apple Street in Lincoln-Lemington-Belmar was charged with two felony counts of possession of drugs with the intent to deliver along with two counts of drug possession and counts of evading arrest and resisting arrest. He also was issued summonses for speeding and careless driving.

He was released from custody on a nonmonetary bond and ordered to appear for a preliminary hearing before District Judge David Sosovicka on Dec. 4, according to court records.

A trooper wrote in a criminal complaint that he was monitoring traffic along southbound Route 28 near the RIDC exit in Harmar on Nov. 15 when an orange vehicle sped past at about 8 a.m.

The trooper said the vehicle was clocked on radar going 100 mph in a 55 mph zone and he followed it to a parking lot along Zeta Drive in O’Hara, the complaint said.

Austin got out of the car and walked away and then began running when the trooper ordered him to return to his vehicle, according to the complaint.

Police said Austin had a bag of marijuana when he was searched, and a second bag of pot along with a scale was found when he agreed to let the trooper search his car, the complaint said.

Austin was searched a second time before being escorted into the state police station near Kittanning and two bags of crack cocaine were confiscated, the complaint said.
