State police in Butler are asking the public’s help identifying a man who they say entered a rural church near Saxonburg early Monday and stole three computers.
The New Life Christian Ministries Church at 139 Knoch Road in Clinton Township was entered about 1:45 a.m., according to Trooper Phillip Schneider.
Once inside, Schneider said the man swung a pry bar and broke a $1,000 security surveillance camera attached to the ceiling and proceeded to rummage through several basement classrooms. Police said he then attempted to remove a mounted television and iPad attached to the wall of one classroom before deciding to move on to the church office on the building’s main floor.
Schneider said the man used a pry bar and screw driver to enter the office where he removed three Microsoft Office Pro Surface tablet computers, each valued at $1,000. Damage to the door was estimated at more than $500 to the office door.
Before it was damaged, the surveillance video camera caught an image of the suspect that was released Wednesday by troopers. The bearded, white male was wearing a gray T-shirt, blue jeans, work boots and a black ball cap when he committed the burglary.
