Local authorities have identified the two people who died in a Buffalo Township crash on Saturday.

Bonnie Grove, 78, died at the scene of the accident at the intersection of South Pike (Route 356) and Younkins roads. Douglas Frosch, 72, died several hours later after being airlifted to UPMC Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh.

Both were residents of Butler County.

The crash involved a car and two SUVs, Buffalo Township police Chief Tim Derringer said.

One SUV was stopped on South Pike Road, waiting to turn left on Younkins Road. The second SUV, also traveling southward, didn’t see the stopped vehicle. The driver of the second SUV then swerved into the car occupied by Grove and Frosch, who were traveling northbound on South Pike Road, Derringer said.

A woman driving one of the two SUVs was taken by ambulance to Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Derringer said the extent of her injuries was unknown.

The two women in the second SUV were shaken up but not hurt, according to the chief.

Derringer said state police would reconstruct the scene.
