Westmoreland County coroner: Woman identified who died in Lower Burrell porch fire
A woman died after suffering burns in a porch fire Friday night in Lower Burrell, according to Westmoreland County Coroner Tim Carson.
Carson identified the victim on Saturday as Jennifer Bates, 42, Lower Burrell.
Carson said her death was the result of a residential porch fire.
Lower Burrell police and state authorities are investigating.
The cause and manner of her death have not been determined.
An autopsy is scheduled to be performed Monday.
Funeral arrangements are being taken care of by the Gigler Funeral Home in Lower Burrell.
Firefighters were called to the scene of an apparent house fire around 10:15 p.m. in the 200 block of Donnell Road, emergency officials said.
Carson said Friday night he did not know if anyone else was at the house at the time and did not elaborate in his release on Saturday.
A Westmoreland County 911 supervisor said at the time there were no other victims.
While most responding fire companies were quickly called off, a landing zone for a medical helicopter was initially set up for a person injured in the fire.
