A trio of vandalism incidents at the Frick Environmental Center in Pittsburgh’s Frick Park has put all but one of the Pittsburgh Park Conservancy’s vehicle fleet out of commission and caused more than $50,000 in damage.
The vandalism took place overnight during the past two and a half weeks, with the most recent incident occurring early Tuesday morning, said Alana Wenk, a conservancy spokesperson.
Six of the seven vehicles that make up the conservancy’s fleet have been affected, she said. Damage includes broken windshields, headlights, taillights and mirrors and smashed hoods and doors.
One Nissan truck may be a complete loss, Wenk said.
The vehicles include trucks that the horticultural and forestry teams use to care for various parks throughout the city, as well as minivans their education team uses for after-school programming.
The conservancy is working with Pittsburgh police and park rangers to identify a suspect or suspects and has shared footage from security cameras with investigators.
The Frick Environmental Center is located on Beechwood Boulevard in Squirrel Hill.
