Pittsburgh police are investigating a fatal vehicle crash that killed a pedestrian early Saturday morning in the East Allegheny neighborhood.

Police from Zone 1 were called to the scene, the intersection of East Ohio Street and East Street, at about 2 a.m.

A man was found in the roadway with severe head trauma. He died at the scene, police said.

According to witnesses, the man was getting out of a silver pickup truck, which was heading east on East Ohio Street, before the collision.

The vehicle that struck the pedestrian fled the scene, continuing on East Ohio Street before making a left onto Madison Avenue, police said.

On Sunday morning, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as Trung Nguyen, 58.
