2-car crash briefly closes Route 30 in Hempfield

Two vehicles damaged in a crash late Friday morning along Route 30 in Hempfield at West Drive, near the Denny’s restaurant. Two persons were taken to area hospitals for treatment.

Two people were taken by ambulance from the scene of a two-car crash shortly before noon Friday on Route 30 in Hempfield, fire officials said.

The crash involving an Equinox sport utility vehicle and a Subaru was reported around 11:45 a.m. at the West Road intersection with eastbound Route 30, at the Denny’s restaurant.

“Route 30 (eastbound) was closed for about 15 minutes when we had to extricate one of the patients,” Hempfield Deputy Fire Chief John Storey Jr. said.

South Greensburg firefighters assisted on the call.

State police at Greensburg investigated the accident.
