Two girls sustained minor injuries Friday afternoon when a Ligonier Valley school bus collided with the rear of their car along Route 711 north of Ligonier, police said.

None of the 26 students on the school bus were hurt as a result of the accident that occurred about 3:10 p.m. at the intersection of Muir Road.

But but the teen driver and her passenger were transported to Independence Latrobe Hospital by Mutual Aid Ambulance, Ligonier Valley Police said.

The driver of the car had turned on the car’s turn signal when the bus hit the car, police said.

The school bus, transporting middle school and high school students, sustained minor damage, but the car was disabled and had to be towed, police said.

Parents of some of the students came to the scene and took their children home, while another bus was dispatched to the scene to take home the remainder of the students, police said.

Police did not release the names of either driver. An accident reconstruction team investigated the crash, police said.

Additional details were not available.
