What’s the diagnosis?

A program on “Medicine and Disease in the 18th Century” will begin at 1 p.m. Saturday at Bushy Run Battlefield, off Route 993 in Penn Township. Topics will include common diseases and methods of medical care during the period.

The program will mark the opening of a new exhibit by the Bushy Run Battlefield Heritage Society that was researched by battlefield volunteers.

Lots of laughs

Westmoreland County Bureau of Parks and Recreation will host a lineup of professional touring comedians for a show at 6 p.m. Saturday at Colton Hall in Claridge. The evening will include raffles, 50-50 drawings, basket auctions and cash bar and is recommended for ages 21 and up.

The event will benefit ongoing maintenance of the Westmoreland Heritage and Five Star trails.

The $35 ticket includes dinner and is available at Colton Hall, Ginny’s Pizza in Export, the parks and recreation office in Greensburg and by calling 724-830-3950.

Tribute to late rocker

Superunknown, a Chris Cornell tribute group, will play at 8 p.m. Saturday at The Lamp Theatre in Irwin. The tribute act plays music by Soundgarden, Audioslave and Temple of the Dog, rock bands fronted by Cornell, who died in 2017.

Formed by vocalist/guitarist Jason Reed, Superunknown has performed in the northeastern United States and overseas for the U.S. military. The group is named for a 1994 Soundgarden album.

Tickets are $30, available by calling 724-367-4000 or online at lamptheatre.org.

Birthday celebration

For those who have an extra day off for President’s Day weekend, The Lincoln Highway Experience is celebrating Abraham Lincoln’s birthday with free admission from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday. Visitors will be admitted until 3 p.m.

The museum, at 3435 Route 30 East in Unity, usually offers free admission on Feb. 12, Lincoln’s actual birth date, but was unable to this year due to another program that day.

The facility offers displays and artifacts interpreting more than 100 years of history of the Lincoln Highway, America’s first coast-to-coast highway. Pie and coffee are available in the restored 1938 Serro’s Diner inside one of the museum buildings.

For information, call 724-879-4241 or visit lhhc.org.
