Did preparing for the Super Bowl distract you from buying your sweetheart a Valentine’s Day gift? Or worse? Are you heartbroken that your team didn’t make it to the championship? Well, there’s plenty of sweet events to cheer you up and do some last minute shopping this weekend in Westmoreland County.

Pittsburgh Cookie Table

Pittsburgh Cookie Table will be hosting a family-friendly event on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Station House 7 on Greensburg Street in Delmont.

For $30, a child or adult will be given three cookies to decorate with the icing and tools provided. Parents of children are asked to stay and help their child as needed. During the class, each attendee will be guided step-by-step on how to decorate the cookies.

Craft and Maker Fair

Starting at 11 a.m. on Saturday, the Greensburg Hempfield Area Library, 237 S. Pennsylvania Ave., will host a Love is in the Air Craft and Maker Fair.

The fair will feature local artists and crafters selling handmade and homemade products. Vendors include aroma therapy, home decor, food and drink, bath, beauty and organic products.

Proceeds from the event will go to the library. There will also be raffle baskets, a 50/50 raffle and activities available for guests. For more, visit events.wlnonline.org.

Sweets for the Sweets

12th Octave Studio, 217 South Pennsylvania Ave., Greensburg, will host a make-your-own candy event this Saturday at 2 p.m.

For $25, guests will be able to make their own candy box to either gift to a special someone, or treat themselves with. All materials will be supplied for the class. For more, visit www.eventbrite.com.

Dessert charcuterie class

On Sunday at 11 a.m. Christina Elizabeth Confections and Sweet Home Vanilla will be hosting a dessert charcuterie class at the Laurel Marketplace, 14 West 2nd St., Greensburg.

Guests will be guided through creating a charcuterie board using sweets including Sweet Home Vanilla products, brownies, cookies, chocolates, fresh berries, cinnamon vanilla whipped cream cheese dip and macarons. In addition to the board, guests will create a custom jar of sugar with options like cinnamon vanilla sugar, lavender vanilla sugar or vanilla bean sugar.

For $85, guests will take home a heart shaped charcuterie board with desserts, and a jar of specialty vanilla sugar. Valentine’s Day themed refreshments will be served throughout the event. For more, visit www.eventbrite.com.

Young artist recital

This year’s winners of the Westmoreland Symphony Orchestra 2024 Young Artists Competition, will perform a recital this Sunday at 2:30 p.m. Seton Hill University Performing Arts Center, 100 Harrison Ave., Greensburg.

The recital, free and open to the public, celebrates local youth artists that live or take lessons in Westmoreland and Fayette County. Each year the Young Artists Competition begins in January with applications opening to all instrumental students up to and including seniors in high school. Competitors then compete in the finals in early February with winners being invited back for the recital on Feb. 11.
