Salute to summer

Celebrate summer with Westmoreland Symphony’s annual “Summer Sparklers” outdoor concert at 7 p.m. today in St. Clair Park in downtown Greensburg.

Artistic Director Daniel Meyer will lead the symphony in a program of patriotic and popular favorites, including “American Salute,” “Sing-Along America,” “Beach Boys Medley,” “A Tribute to Henry Mancini,” John Williams’ “E.T. on Earth” and others.

Admission is free; donations will be accepted.

Some bench seating is available at the amphitheater. Concert-goers can bring chairs or blankets for lawn seating.

Calling all Chevys

Any and all Chevys are welcome at the first-ever Shorkey Chevy Car Show, taking place 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at Jim Shorkey Murrysville Chevrolet, 6370 William Penn Highway.

Food trucks, local radio station broadcast, giveaways, a 50-50 raffle and more are planned for the outdoor event adjacent to showroom.

People’s Choice and Judges Choice awards will be given.

Proceeds will benefit Beverly’s Birthdays, a North Huntingdon-based nonprofit that provides birthday cheer for children experiencing homelessness and families in need.

Preregistration is recommended.

Rhythm and blues

Rock out with The Fabulous Booze Brothers Show Band and Revue at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Brian T. Rusnock Amphitheater in the Twin Lakes Park expansion area, off Georges Station Road in Hempfield.

The all-ages show pays tribute to the music of The Blues Brothers and other soul, blues and rhythm and blues acts.

Admission is free. Seating is limited. Attendees are advised to bring chairs or blankets. The park is dog-friendly.

Collectibles and cosplay

CARLcon, a mini-convention for people who love collectibles, is planned for noon-5 p.m. Sunday in the Shidle Lodge, 415 Main St., Irwin.

Event will include presentations, a basket raffle and these contests: cosplay costume contest, Baby Yoda baby contest and M&M tasting contest.

Tables for collectors and vendors are available. Email Irwin1864@gmail.com for more information. Event is organized by the Irwin Business and Professional Association, which notes the event is not a flea market.

Sing your song

Love to perform, but don’t have a place to play? Head for the acoustic open stage from 3:30-6:30 p.m. Sunday at All Saints Brewing Co. at Route 119 and Roseytown Road in Hempfield.

Bubba’s pizza will be available by the slice, along with a selection of craft brews for the over-21 crowd.
