Light in the dark
Two exhibitions open today and run through July 31 in the Southern Alleghenies Museum of Art at Ligonier Valley.
“Looking for the Light in Dark Times” features work by Indiana County artists Jonelle Summerfield and Jolene Joyner. Summerfield’s impressionistic oil paintings are influenced by her European travel and subjects include interiors, street scenes, animals and still lifes. Joyner paints felines and still lifes, along with scenes from her travels to Europe, the beaches of the Caribbean and America’s east coast, as well as rural landscapes that include horses and cows.
“Back to Woodstock” features Mark Costello’s collection of 1960’s memorabilia and posters, including authentic music posters of artists such as Jimi Hendrix and the Grateful Dead representing the original 1969 Woodstock music festival.
