On stage

Chicago: Teen Edition, presented by the teen group at 2 and 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

We Will Rock You, with the music of Queen, presented by the preteens at 6:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Admission to either show is $16, or $11 for students.

One-man band

SummerSounds welcomes a one-man band billed as The Suitcase Junket at 7 p.m. Friday in St. Clair Park, along Maple Avenue in Greensburg.

Massachusetts resident Matt Lorenz sits on a ratty suitcase and plays a beat-up guitar found in a Dumpster and a bass made from another old suitcase. His other instruments were crafted from pots, forks, a gas can, bones and a baby shoe. Lorenz also practices the ancient art of throat singing.

Jackson Stokes will play pre-show music beginning at 6:15 p.m. Food and beverages will be available.

Admission is free; donations are taken to support the weekly concert series running through Aug. 25. For information, visit summersounds.com.

Five years and counting

A fifth anniversary celebration will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at You Are Here, 406 Clay Ave., Jeannette.

The event will include the opening of an exhibit by a large group of artists and poets who have been involved with the gallery and art space since its founding, along with reggae-style Hawaiian music by Four String Fighter, balloon artists, raffles and birthday cake.

The exhibit will continue through Sept. 9. For information, visit yah406clay.org.

Block party

A block party in conjunction with the current exhibit of the same name is planned for 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at The Westmoreland Museum of American Art, 221 N. Main St., Greensburg.

The outdoor, all-ages event will feature music by the Tim Woods Band, cash bar, food for purchase, banana split station, games and community art activity.

Admission is free; registration is requested at 888-718-4253 or thewestmoreland.org.

Cruisin’ the park

The 12th Annual Hayden’s Pharmacy Car Cruise is set for noon to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Youngwood Park N Pool, 801 S. 10th St.

All vehicles are welcome. The event will include basket and 50/50 raffles, food, entertainment and vehicle trophies and awards.

A hot dog-eating contest for competitors 18 and older is planned for 2 p.m. Sign-up will begin at 9 a.m. in the park.

Cruise admission is free to spectators and $5 per vehicle. Use of the pool also is free to vehicle owners.
