A Braddock woman pleaded guilty this week to a reduced charge in connection with a shooting on Route 30 in Unity.

Markale D. Younger, 28, was sentenced to two years on probation after pleading guilty to reckless endangerment, according to a court order. Charges of attempted homicide, aggravated assault and simple assault were dismissed.

State police said Younger fired a gun at her boyfriend’s vehicle while both were traveling on the highway Oct. 18, 2023. He was not hurt.

The shooting stemmed from an argument between the two at his home off Route 30 near the Beatty Crossroads area. Witnesses told investigators they heard the pair arguing and later saw Younger hanging out of of a vehicle with a gun in her hand when they heard a shot fired, according to court papers.

Charges were filed two days later and Younger was arrested in West Virginia earlier this year, according to state police. She was arraigned in Westmoreland County in April, according to court records.

She was ordered to undergo a mental health evaluation and not have any abusive contact with the man involved.
