An annual car show this weekend will raise money for Franklin Regional student scholarships, in memory of 2021 Panther graduate Damian Bearley, who died in a 2021 car crash in Derry Township.
The fourth Long Live Damian Bearley Car Show will be from 3-7 p.m. Saturday at the Cook Township Community Center, 1714 Route 711 in Stahlstown.
Vehicles may enter for a $10 fee, which will go to the Long Live Damian Bearley Foundation. Bearley’s mother Jackie said whe wants to provide scholarships to FR students with the proceeds.
“The FR community support we received when this tragedy occurred was overwhelming,” she said. “So now I would like to give back to that community.”
Bearley, a Murrysville resident, was driving south on Route 982 in mid-July 2021 when, investigators said, he hit a deer, crossed into the opposite lane and struck a tree and utility pole. He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed going to cruises, shows and meets.
The afternoon will include food trucks, a DJ, a “low car limbo” event, basket raffle, 50/50 and a burn-out area.
