A Carlow University education will soon be even more accessible for Westmoreland County residents.
The university, located in Pittsburgh’s Oakland section, and Westmoreland County Community College have partnered to create a dual agreement program.
The program, which will provide a “direct, smooth pathway” to a Carlow bachelor’s degree, aims to also help students save on tuition, according to a news release. The two educational institutions will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday at WCCC’s Hempfield campus.
The agreement was entered in partnership with the Westmoreland Chamber of Commerce.
This isn’t the first tie between Carlow and WCCC. Four of Carlow’s programs — family nurse practitioner, women’s health nurse practitioner, early childhood education, and early development and learning — can be fully or in part earned at WCCC.
These Carlow programs are also offered at the Regional Learning Alliance in Cranberry.
For Westmoreland County residents, WCCC tuition is $2,070 per semester during the current academic year. Out-of-county residents pay $4,140.
Carlow University costs about $16,750 per semester.
