A Greensburg man is facing charges after state police said a 4-year-old boy was hit by a car on Route 119 in July.
Troopers said in a news release that Andre C. Stanford, 42, and four children were walking on the side of the road in Hempfield near Lynch Field around 2:30 p.m. on July 24.
“The three other juvenile pedestrians were walking near the juvenile male, but no one was accounting for him as the group appeared to be in the process of crossing the road,” police said.
The child ran out into the street and was hit by a Cadillac Deville. Troopers said Stanford picked him up off the road and took him home. Police and EMS were not called to the scene.
The child was taken by medical helicopter to UPMC Children’s Hospital in Pittsburgh for treatment of a broken femur. He also had a gash on his head and brush burn, police said.
Stanford is charged with child endangerment and obstruction. No court action has been scheduled. He could not be reached.
