A Confluence woman was arrested by state police for driving under the influence and endangering the lives of two toddlers following a pursuit that began in Maryland.

Samantha Cherry, 25, is accused of abandoning two toddlers in a vehicle in Fayette County, according to state police.

Maryland state police troopers found a vehicle carrying two toddlers abandoned near 198 Sickle Ridge Road in Henry Clay Township just after 1:45 p.m. Tuesday.

While responding to a two-vehicle crash on Brown Hill Road in Markleysburg around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Pennsylvania state police troopers arrested Cherry for driving under the influence and endangering child welfare.

Maryland state police have charged Cherry with multiple traffic violations.
