In a news release, troopers said the tractor-trailer left its eastbound lane and crossed over the center line into the path of the Subaru WRX Fryman was driving west. The two vehicles crashed and the Subaru’s roof and both driver’s side doors were sheared off.
The tractor-trailer continued east and crashed into an embankment and ditch west of Peterson Road, police said. The driver of the tractor-trailer was not hurt. Route 981 was closed from Mendon Road to the area of the crash, Barnhart said.
The cause and manner of death are pending autopsy results, according to information released by the Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office. Nickels Funeral Home in Herminie is handling arrangements.
