Voice of Westmoreland, a nonprofit organization that promotes racial, economic and educational equity in the county, is hosting a candidate fair Tuesday, giving the public an opportunity to meet Republican and Democratic candidates in several local races.

Candidates for county commissioner, county row offices, Superior Court, Court of Common Pleas, Greensburg mayor and city council and some school boards will be available for questions at the Lamplighter Restaurant near Delmont.

Those who attend will have the opportunity to meet one-on-one with candidates.

“It’s difficult to get information on local races. Not knowing what some of the offices do makes it even harder,” Sarah Skidmore, volunteer leader for the organization, said in a news release. “Having an opportunity to talk with the candidates in one place is incredibly helpful.”

The fair runs from 5 to 7 p.m. The general election is Nov. 5.

In April, the organization asked county candidates to answer a series of questions focused on issues impacting working families, education, livability, taxation and diversity.

“We are excited to provide folks in our community with the chance to talk with many of our local candidates so they can be more informed before they vote on Nov. 5, especially for these important local races that often get ignored,” Voice of Westmoreland co-founder Angela Aldous said in the release.
