A Blair County woman was injured in a multi-vehicle crash that temporarily blocked one lane of eastbound traffic Wednesday afternoon on the Pennsylvania Turnpike just past the New Stanton interchange.
State police said Linda Closson, 64, of Martinsburg was taken by Mutual Aid Ambulance to Independence Health Frick Hospital in Mt. Pleasant for treatment. The severity of her injury and her condition weren’t available.
Closson was driving an Audi that was rear-ended by a Ford F-550 truck and, in turn, struck the rear of a Ford F-250 SuperCab pickup truck, according to police.
Police said the chain-reaction collision happened as the Audi and SuperCab were stopped in traffic. They were stopped for vehicles merging into the left lane from the right lane, which was blocked by a disabled tractor truck, police said.
No other injuries were reported. Police said Michael Johnson, 52, of Glade Spring, Va., drove the F-550 and Michael Rugg, 39, of Somerset drove the F-250.
The wreck was reported at about 3:15 p.m. at milepost 75.2, according to turnpike spokesman Crispin Havener.
The right eastbound lane was blocked by the crash but was cleared by 5 p.m., a Westmoreland County 911 dispatcher said.
Firefighters from New Stanton and Youngwood responded to the scene.
