A Monessen man was killed early Tuesday morning in a wrong-way crash in South Huntingdon, state police said.

Officers said 37-year-old Nathan T. Dzimiera of Leeds Avenue, was killed in the two-vehicle crash along Route 31, also known as Mt. Pleasant Road, near Hughes Lane.

Dzimiera was driving south in a 2016 Chrysler Town & Country in the northbound lane around 5:50 a.m. when he collided broadside with a Ford pickup truck traveling north, causing major damage to both vehicles. The driver of the pickup truck attempted to avoid the collision, the Westmoreland County Coroner’s office said.

Dzimiera, who was not wearing a seat belt, was pronounced dead on scene of blunt force injuries, the coroner said.

The driver of the second vehicle, who was not identified, was not injured.
