A Derry Township man was killed in a motorcycle crash early Saturday morning, along Route 217 in Derry Township, the Westmoreland County Coroner’s Office said.

The victim, James A. Trice III, 35, died as a result of injuries he suffered in the accident at 1:10 a.m. while traveling on Ligonier Street near the intersection of Route 217, the coroner said. Trice was dead at the scene, the coroner said.

Trice was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle east on Ligonier Street when he lost control and went off the side of the road, hitting a traffic sign and ending up back on the road, the coroner said. Trice was not wearing a helmet.

Bradenville firefighters responded to the scene.

State police from the Kiski Valley station investigated. Additional details were not available.
