Fire damages home in Arona
An Arona home was damaged by fire late Wednesday night, a Hempfield fire official said.
The fire at the two-story wooden-framed house on West Newton Street was knocked down within 15 minutes of the fire departments receiving the call at 10:34 p.m., said Don Thoma, Hempfield assistant fire chief. A teenager was home at the time of the fire and escaped without injury, he said.
The cause of the fire, which began on the first floor, is being investigated by a state police fire marshal.
Firefighters remained on the scene for about two hours, Thoma said.
Adamsburg firefighters were assisted by units from Madison, Herminie, Fort Allen, a rapid intervention team from North Huntingdon and Hempfield air and salvage trucks
