A retired Penn Township policeman was cited by the state game commission this month for five summary hunting violations.

Authorities said Augustine DeGuffroy, 66, illegally shot an antlerless deer on Dec. 1 along Richmond Drive in Penn Township.

DeGuffroy, a township resident, did not have a hunting license at the time and did not properly tag the animal before removing it, according to game wardens. Authorities said he later filled out the tag and improperly attached it.

He also is accused of hunting too close to homes from a blind that didn’t have required fluorescent orange markers nearby, according to the citations. A summary trial is scheduled for Jan. 27. The citations carry costs and fines of about $2,000.

DeGuffroy declined to comment.
