Franklin Regional seniors will graduate June 7 if school board members vote to add two in-service days to this year’s school calendar.

Those days, June 11 and 12, would serve as teacher professional development days to make up for district closures on Feb. 20 and 25. The final day of school for all students would be June 7.

“We utilized all of our make-up days this winter, plus two additional days,” Superintendent Gennaro Piraino said.

The district’s collective bargaining agreement with teachers allows the transfer of instructional days to professional development. “We’d do 181 days of instruction, and our teachers would meet their obligation of 191 days with us,” Piraino said.

Upcoming make-up days include April 18 and 23, to account for closures on Jan. 31 and Feb. 1.

The school board’s next voting meeting will be at 7:30 p.m., April 15 in the Murrysville municipal building at 4100 Sardis Road.

The Pittsburgh area received more than 25 inches of snow in January and February, according to the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration’s climate data.
