Free fishing derbies on tap at Westmoreland County parks

Free fishing derbies for adults and children are scheduled this spring at Mammoth, Northmoreland and Twin Lakes parks in Westmoreland County, with each offering trophies and prizes.

The free fishing derbies are being cosponsored by the Westmoreland County Sportsmen’s League and Dick’s Sporting Goods.

The fishing derbies will all be held from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and include ones at:

• Mammoth Park in Mount Pleasant Township, April 26. Register at Pavilion No. 12.

• Northmoreland Park in Allegheny Township, May 17. Register at the Activity Center/Boathouse.

• Twin Lakes Park Father’s Day Fishing Derby, near Greensburg, June 21. Register at the Boathouse, Lower Lake.

Registration starts at 7:30 a.m. and should be complete by noon for contestants to be included in drawings for door prizes.

All participants ages 16 and older must display a current fishing license. For more information, call 724-830-3959.
