The Live Casino in Hempfield will be the location for a nostalgic look at the former Greengate Mall, which was a shopping destination for decades.

Gary Nelson will present the program, “Remember When We Shopped at the Greengate Mall,” from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. April 6 at the casino along Route 30 east of Greensburg.

“The opening of Greengate Mall was significant and exciting because it was the first of its kind in Westmoreland County,” said Lisa Hays, executive director of the Westmoreland County Historical Society, which is sponsoring the program.

Chad Altman will exhibit some of the treasures that he recovered before the mall’s demolition began, Hays said.

The program costs $48 for a sit-down lunch, a multi-media presentation and various displays. The program is part of the historical society’s annual “Remember When” series.

The deadline for making reservations is April 2. Reservations are required and can be made by calling the historical society at 724-836-1800, ext. 210.
