A Greensburg man was arrested Monday after running from a two-vehicle crash on South Main Street that left another driver seriously injured, according to city police.

Officers said Collin M. Hays, 34, appeared to be intoxicated when he was apprehended.

Police were called to the crash at the GetGo entrance at 7:15 p.m. and learned from witnesses that the driver of a Chevrolet Trax ran from the scene wearing a purple shirt and black shorts. Police found him a few blocks away on Alwine Avenue, according to court papers.

Police reported finding a cold beer in the center console of the Chevrolet and several empty cans of Twisted Tea scattered in the backseat. A gun was found in the car. Police said Hays did not have a valid drivers license.

He is charged with accidents involving injury, evading arrest, firearms not to be carried without a license, driving under the influence, reckless endangerment and related offenses. He was denied bail during arraignment Tuesday morning. Hays was being held at the Westmoreland County Prison. He did not have an attorney listed in online court records.

A July 3 preliminary hearing is set.
