Greensburg Salem hires retiring principal as interim athletic director
David Zilli was hired as Greensburg Salem School District’s interim athletic director and transitional administrator, a position that will run from Jan. 1 until March 8.
Zilli is set to retire as the district’s high school principal on Dec. 31, which was going to be the end of his 35-year career in education.
Zilli previously held the role of athletic director in the district from 2001 to 2004, and he will be paid $326 per day in the temporary administrative position.
An initial motion, which recommended his salary be $516.08 per day, failed and wasn’t brought to a vote. Board member Brian Conway proposed the second motion lowering Zilli’s salary. That passed 9-0.
Also during Monday’s reorganization meeting, Jeff Metrosky and Robin Savage were reelected as president and vice president of the board, respectively.
Metrosky’s election passed in a 9-0 roll call vote, and Savage’s election passed in a 8-1 roll call vote. Board member Lynn Jobe voted against Savage’s appointment.
