Blood drives

• American Red Cross will host a blood drive noon- 4:30 p.m. Oct. 11, Export Italian American Club, 5930 Kennedy Ave. Appointments: 800-733-2767 or redcrossblood.org; walk-ins welcome

Classes/programs

• WCCC is partnering with APPRISE, the Pennsylvania Health Insurance Assistance Program, to sponsor a free Medicare presentation about the basics of the system. Sessions planned:

— 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 15, Westmoreland County Community College, 6707 Mellon Road, Export

— 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 17, Westmoreland County Community College, 145 Pavilion Lane, Commissioners Hall, Youngwood campus

Meetings

• Grief Without the Stigma meeting will be held 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in Sage’s Army Headquarters, 216 Fourth St., Irwin. Details: sagesarmy.com

Screenings

• Excela Health will offer a Wellness Check diagnostic screening in partnership with Scottdale Kiwanis Club, 6:30-9:30 a.m. Saturday in Christ United Methodist Church, 203 Market St., Scottdale. Cost: $55 for standard package. Appointments preferred and may be scheduled from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. through Friday at 877-771-1234 or excelahealth.org/Wellness Checks

Support groups

• Caregiver support group is planned 1-3 p.m. Wednesday, hosted by the Westmoreland County Area Agency on Aging in McKenna Center for Active Adults, 971 Old Salem Road, Greensburg. Guest speaker will be Alexandra Adams from the Pennsylvania Medical Marijuana Program, who will discuss the benefits of the programs and provide information about the local dispensaries. • Family Reinforcement/Recovery Session for information and guidance for family members who need to deal with addiction in the family along with ongoing support, held by Carmen Capozzi, 6:30 p.m. Thursday in Sage’s Army Headquarters, 216 Fourth St., Irwin. Details: sagesarmy.com

• NAMI Peer Recovery support group meets 2:30-4 p.m. every Tuesday in Westmoreland Casemanagement & Supports Inc., 770 E. Pittsburgh St., Greensburg. This peer-facilitated, recovery support group is for adults with mental illness or any diagnosis.

• Excela Health will offer a family-based grief support program known as Neighborhood Kids, meeting at Excela Latrobe Hospital in the Behavioral Health Services outpatient area from 5:30-7 p.m., Tuesdays Oct. 15-Nov. 5, for adolescents ages 10-13 and their families. During the four-week bereavement support series, art, music and pet therapy will help bring families together during a time of loss and sadness. The program continues Mondays, Nov. 11- Dec. 3, for ages 14 to 19. Registration is required at 877-771-1234.

Volunteer fair
